Memory Verse #6

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (NIV)

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light & momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

1st Place at Science Fair

Evan entered the TACHE Science Fair in the fall with his P-LED (Potato-Light Emitting Device) project. He and his daddy figured out how to create a potato battery with some wire, a galvanized nail, and a potato. It created nearly 4 volts of electricity and lit up a little LED light bulb!

We were so proud that he placed at the local level and found out that he qualified to compete in the East Texas State Fair Academic Rodeo! That competition was at the beginning of February. He not only had to have his project, backboard display, and his research folder, but he also had to interview with the judges. Evidently, he did well because he won FIRST place in the Middle School Chemistry/Physical Science Division!

We enjoyed watching him get recognized at the Awards Assembly in Tyler. He, on the other hand, was a bit nervous. But once it was over & he had the medal around his neck, he walked around with a proud smile!

Of course, Ethan was more interested in me taking a picture of his gum
than he was watching his brother get an award!

I'm so thankful for opportunities such as these with the Tyler Homeschool group! And we were so excited that our friends, Grant, Cassidy, and Kim Parker, came to the awards ceremony to see Evan. Of course, we had to celebrate at Olive Garden, one of our family favorites!

Memory Verse #5

Philippians 2:13 (NIV)
For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose.
