2015 SSMT Memory Verses

Wow!  It's been a long time since I posted here!  Since it is the last day of 2015, I thought it would be good to review all of the verses I'm trying to hide in my heart & into my long-term memory. :)

Here goes...

1.  Proverbs 31:8-9
     Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; for the rights of all who are destitute.
     Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.

2.  Proverbs 3:27
     Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it is in your power to act.

3.  Proverbs 10:12-13
     Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs.
     Wisdom is found on the lips of the discerning.

4.  Isaiah 43:1-3
     Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
     When you pass through the waters, I will be with you.  When you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.  When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned;  the flames will not set you ablaze.  For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.

5.  1 Corinthians 6:19-20
     Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?  You are not your own, you were bought at a price.  Therefore, honor God with your body.

6.  Romans 12:1-2
     Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy & pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship.  Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test & approve what God's will is--His good, pleasing, & perfect will.

7.  Ephesians 3:14-15
     For this reason I kneel before the Father,from whom His whole family in heaven & on earth derives its name.

8.  Ephesians 3:16
     I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being.

9.  Ephesians 3:17
     So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.  And I pray that you, being rooted & established in love

10.  Ephesians 3:18
     may have power together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.

11.  Ephesians 3:19
     And to know this love that surpasses knowledge--that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

12.  Ephesians 3:20-21
     Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever & ever.  Amen

13.  Colossians 1:9
     For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you & asking God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all spiritual wisdom & understanding.

14.  Colossians 1:10
     And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and my please Him in every way:  bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,

15.  Colossians 1:11
     Being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you may have great endurance & patience

16.  Colossians 1:12
    And giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of His holy people in the kingdom of light.

17.  Romans 5:2-3
     And we boast in the Hope of the glory of God.  Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance,

18.  Romans 5:4-5
     Perseverance produces character, and character produces hope.  And hope does not disappoint us because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.

19.  2 Corinthians 3:12
     Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold.

20.  1 John 3:17
     If anyone has this world's good and see his brother in need but closes his eyes to the need--how can God's love reside in him?

21.  1 John 3:18
     Little children, we must not love with word or speech, but with truth and action.

22.  1 Thessalonians 1:4
     For we know, brothers (and sisters) loved by God, that He has chosen you.

23.  Colossians 4:17
     Pay attention to the ministry you have received in the Lord, so that you can accomplish it.

24.  Isaiah 55:11
     So shall My word be that goes out from My mouth; it shall not return to Me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.

Yummy Desserts

Bayou Brownies


I found these delicious blonde brownies on Pinterest awhile back.  I finally took time to make them this week.  Oh my!  These will not stay around long!  So easy & so delicious!


  • Ingredients
  • cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • large eggs
  • 1 (18 1/4 ounce) package yellow cake mix
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
  • 1 (16 ounce) package powdered sugar

Directions

Combine remaining 2 eggs, cream cheese, & powdered sugar in a large bowl.  Beat at medium speed until smooth.  Pour cream cheese mixture over the cake mix layer.  

Bake at 325 for 40 minutes or until cream cheese mixture is set.  Let cool  completely in pan on wire rack...if you can wait!  YUMMY DELICIOUSNESS!




Shellye's King Ranch Chicken

This is one recipe that my sister (who doesn't really like to cook) enjoys cooking!  When my pastor asked me to make something for our outreach meal on Tuesday evening, I knew this would be easy & delicious!

I didn't even think about taking a picture...I'll have to do that next time. :)

Shellye's King Ranch Chicken

1 bag flour tortillas, cut in squares
3-4 c sour cream
3 cans chicken
1 small can green chilies
1 family size mushroom soup
1 family size cream of chicken soup
1-2 fresh jalapeƱo, chopped
1 can rotel tomatoes
1 small onion, chopped
3 cups grated cheese, divided
1-2 cloves garlic
Salt & pepper to taste


Mix all of the ingredients, using only half of the cheese.  Bake in a casserole dish for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.  Top with the rest of the cheese & bake 10 more minutes or until cheese is brown & bubbly.

100th Day Celebration

This week we celebrated 100 Day!
Ethan looks forward to this day ALL year long!
He requested donuts for breakfast to spell out 100.


Then he made his 100 hat that he wore for the rest of the day.


We had several activities throughout the day, and one was to stack 100 pennies.
This was NOT an easy task!


One of our favorite activities was creating 100 Day Trail Mix with some of 
his favorite snacks.  (Do you notice the photo bomb?)


The cook had to sample the snacks.


Carefully mixing the ingredients.

He also created a trio tower with 100 trios.


After much frustration, he finally finished his construction.


He spelled 100 WORDS (with very few mistakes).


Another favorite activity was estimating how many times he could do a task in 100 seconds.


One was standing up & sitting down.  We decided to make this a contest.  
Our legs were a bit sore after that.
Of course, Evan one & I came in last.  


What a great day!
We enjoyed doing things out of the ordinary routine.

Scripture Memory Verse #3




One month of 2015 is already gone!  Time sure passes so much more quickly every year it seems.

I'm so thankful to have the accountability of the SSMT to hold me to my Scripture Memory!  And I'm so glad I have several friends joining me as well this year!

Verse #2

I chose this verse because it is one of our theme verses for Trades of Hope.

I chose this verse because I'm reading "Keep it Shut" by Karen Ehman along with the Proverbs 31 Online Bible study.  This is one of the memory verses that I think would really help me if I will apply it daily!

Beth  Moore had a wonderful devotional today on her blog about how to memorize scripture & how to ask God to keep helping us with our memory work!  I'd love to hear the verse that you are committing to memory!

SSMT 2015 Memory Verse #1


Happy New Year!  2015!  Wow!
When I was little, I remember thinking the 2000's were SOOOOO in the future but here they are! (Remember Back to the Future going to the FUTURE???)

I'm thrilled to take the challenge of memorizing scripture this year along with Beth Moore's Living Proof Ministries Siesta Scripture Memory Team!  I'd love for you to join me!  You get to choose the verse that applies to your life to help you & encourage you!

Here's my first verse:
