Yummy Desserts

Bayou Brownies

I found these delicious blonde brownies on Pinterest awhile back.  I finally took time to make them this week.  Oh my!  These will not stay around long!  So easy & so delicious!

  • Ingredients
  • cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • large eggs
  • 1 (18 1/4 ounce) package yellow cake mix
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
  • 1 (16 ounce) package powdered sugar

Directions

Combine remaining 2 eggs, cream cheese, & powdered sugar in a large bowl.  Beat at medium speed until smooth.  Pour cream cheese mixture over the cake mix layer.

Bake at 325 for 40 minutes or until cream cheese mixture is set.  Let cool  completely in pan on wire rack...if you can wait!  YUMMY DELICIOUSNESS!

Shellye's King Ranch Chicken

This is one recipe that my sister (who doesn't really like to cook) enjoys cooking!  When my pastor asked me to make something for our outreach meal on Tuesday evening, I knew this would be easy & delicious!

I didn't even think about taking a picture...I'll have to do that next time. :)

Shellye's King Ranch Chicken

1 bag flour tortillas, cut in squares
3-4 c sour cream
3 cans chicken
1 small can green chilies
1 family size mushroom soup
1 family size cream of chicken soup
1-2 fresh jalapeƱo, chopped
1 can rotel tomatoes
1 small onion, chopped
3 cups grated cheese, divided
1-2 cloves garlic
Salt & pepper to taste

Mix all of the ingredients, using only half of the cheese.  Bake in a casserole dish for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.  Top with the rest of the cheese & bake 10 more minutes or until cheese is brown & bubbly.

100th Day Celebration

This week we celebrated 100 Day!
Ethan looks forward to this day ALL year long!
He requested donuts for breakfast to spell out 100.

Then he made his 100 hat that he wore for the rest of the day.

We had several activities throughout the day, and one was to stack 100 pennies.
This was NOT an easy task!

One of our favorite activities was creating 100 Day Trail Mix with some of
his favorite snacks.  (Do you notice the photo bomb?)

The cook had to sample the snacks.

Carefully mixing the ingredients.

YUMMY!

He also created a trio tower with 100 trios.

After much frustration, he finally finished his construction.

He spelled 100 WORDS (with very few mistakes).

Another favorite activity was estimating how many times he could do a task in 100 seconds.

One was standing up & sitting down.  We decided to make this a contest.
Our legs were a bit sore after that.
Of course, Evan one & I came in last.

What a great day!
We enjoyed doing things out of the ordinary routine.

Scripture Memory Verse #3

One month of 2015 is already gone!  Time sure passes so much more quickly every year it seems.

I'm so thankful to have the accountability of the SSMT to hold me to my Scripture Memory!  And I'm so glad I have several friends joining me as well this year!

Verse #2

Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it is in your power to act.
Proverbs 3:27

I chose this verse because it is one of our theme verses for Trades of Hope.

Verse #3

Hatred stirs up conflict,
but love covers over all wrongs.
Wisdom is found on the lips of the discerning.
Proverbs 10:12-13

I chose this verse because I'm reading "Keep it Shut" by Karen Ehman along with the Proverbs 31 Online Bible study.  This is one of the memory verses that I think would really help me if I will apply it daily!

Beth  Moore had a wonderful devotional today on her blog about how to memorize scripture & how to ask God to keep helping us with our memory work!  I'd love to hear the verse that you are committing to memory!
